RE: UCPath Notice: Direct Deposit Changes Coming This August
Dear UCSB Campus Community,
To enhance the security of your personal information, UCPath will introduce an additional verification step for direct deposit updates starting Sunday, August 24, 2025.
Here’s what to expect:
- After completing your regular self-service security questions, you’ll be asked to confirm one full active account number linked to your current direct deposit.

- Please have a current bank account number ready when you plan to review or update your direct deposit information in UCPath. Bank routing numbers cannot be used.

- You will have up to three attempts to enter a correct account number. You can try again the next day if all three attempts are unsuccessful.

- Completing this step is necessary to access or update your direct deposit information.

- Resources:
UCPath is adding this measure in response to a growing number of fraud attempts involving bank account information. It’s a straightforward step that enhances your protection, and we thank you for helping keep your data secure.

In addition to this new security measure, the July Release included two enhancements to direct deposit:
- You can update your direct deposit details multiple times a day.
- You can assign nicknames to your accounts to make them easier to recognize.

Given the impact on all employees, please ensure this message is shared widely.
If you have a question about this information or for any other services, please visit UCPath and click on “Ask UCPath” to submit an inquiry or call (855) 982-7284 to speak with an associate M-F between 8 am and 5 pm.
