Stay Vigilant: UCPath Phishing Scams
An active phishing scam is targeting UC location users, mimicking the UCPath website to steal login credentials, DUO MFA codes, and security answers. Attackers use this stolen information to change your Direct Deposit details, redirecting your pay to their accounts.
If you receive an email from UCPath titled "Direct Deposit Updated" without making this change yourself, or a DUO notification you didn't initiate, you may be affected.
What to Do:
- Report suspicious activity. Email security@ucsb.edu if you receive any suspicious messages or notifications
- Always bookmark and directly use https://ucpath.ucsb.edu for UCPath access.
- Be suspicious of any emails or websites asking for your UCPath login, DUO MFA code, or security questions. Legitimate UCPath communications will never ask for this information via email or unsecured websites.

UCPath Training Redesign: Coming September 1, 2025
Starting September 1, 2025, we’re moving from instructor-led sessions to a fully self-paced learning format. This redesign gives both you and your new hires greater flexibility—learn on your own schedule, revisit topics anytime, and build confidence in key UCPath processes without being tied to set class times.
Each current instructor-led course will have a 1:1 course replacement in the new self-paced format, so you’ll still receive all the critical content. To ensure understanding and readiness, competency-based knowledge checks will be embedded throughout the training. These will help confirm you're gaining the skills and information needed to succeed in your UCPath role.
We're also launching a UCPath Knowledge Base in ServiceNow, consolidating all job aids and training materials into one easy-to-search, centralized hub.
The final Instructor-Led UCPath Training sessions will be held August 4–7, 2025. Be on the lookout for registration info via D-List—this will be the last chance to attend the current live format.
UCPath Enhances Security with Firewall Upgrade
UCPath Center completed a firewall migration project over the weekend designed to block potentially malicious requests. While users should not encounter any observable changes, some form entries may reject text that contains potentially suspicious characters and scripts.
Salary Cost Transfer
The UCPath Center has completed two important updates impacting Salary Cost Transfers (SCTs):
- Attachment File Name Error Resolved: A defect was resolved when SCT attachments with long file names were generating persistent errors. The issue was due to caching behavior and has been corrected with a code update.
- Questionnaire Required for Restricted Funds: The justification questionnaire is now required for all SCTs involving restricted funds. While this has been standard practice at UCSB, the system will now enforce the requirement to ensure consistent compliance across all campuses.
Updates to Ask UCPath Case Search
UCPath Center implemented a change to the Ask UCPath interface to improve system performance and ensure access to case history while supporting long-term platform scalability.
Users will now notice the following:
A rolling 5-year data filter for global case searches to reduce load times and enhance the search experience for active or recent cases
- A new method to access historical cases:
- Navigate to Ask UCPath > Select Other Resources > Historical Cases from the menu
- Enter Employee Name or Employee ID to retrieve associated cases that were closed beyond the 5-year timeframe
If you encounter issues or have a question about any of these updates, please visit UCPath and click on “Ask UCPath” to submit an inquiry or call (855) 982-7284 to speak with an associate M–F between 8:00am–5:00pm.
UCPath Monthly Connection Newsletter Schedule: The next newsletter will be sent on 7/8/2025.
