RE: Code Freeze and Location Table Update: AB-119 Compliance

Dear UCSB UCPath Transactional Users,

As a part of the UCPath Upgrade beginning December 10, 2021, the UCPath Center implemented a code freeze.  A code freeze in this context means no configuration changes can be made to UCPath, including adding or updating  Location codes.

This code freeze does not impact Smart HR Template/PayPath transactions which can be processed through the close of business, Thursday, December 9, 2021.  The upgrade begins Friday, December 10, 2021.

In order to ensure compliance with AB-119 during this Code Freeze, generic location codes for each building have been created. These codes do not designate specific floors, rooms, cubicles or offices, but are only an abbreviation of the building and the building number.

Example: Human Resources Location: SAASB-568

Please refer to the Location Code for Building Spreadsheet for a full list of generic Location Codes.

The intention is to provide a general building location and allow the specific work location details to be set out in the cubicle field.

For represented employee work location updates where the addition of a new Location Code is pending, employee records should be updated as follows:

  • Location Code = generic building code (e.g. SAASB-568)
  • Cubicle = Specific Work Location (examples below)
    • 3101-K (Room Number-Cubicle or Office Letter)
    • H-3101-K (Hybrid-Room Number-Office/Cubicle Letter)

Note: The above Location/Cubicle data and formatting does not need to be updated on represented employee records where the specific Location Code is already available in UCPath. Please refer to the AB 119 work location update communications previously sent to department Business Officers for more information.
